The Variodyn VF85 is a popular variable speed drive designed and manufactured by Schindler and distributed globally. The drive is primarily used on geared traction systems with designated speed above 1.6 m/s. The drive is controlled through a proprietary serial interface command from the Schindler MX controller making a retrofit with any other manufacturer's product impractical.
